It depends on the plug that you use. Some are Pre-Gapped.

When you buy plugs that fit your car, they are gapped to specs, but you should always check the gap anyway.

The spark plug gap should be shown on the Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) label, under the hood or on the radiator support, the long white label or sticker.

If you're replacing the spark plugs in your car engine, you'll need to set the gap before reseating the spark plug. The gap is the distance electricity arcs between the ground electrode and center electrode. The gap must be set correctly to ensure maximum performance. Here's how to set the gap of a spark plug.

1. Remove the spark plug wires. Use a socket wrench to remove the spark plugs from their chambers.
   
2. Clean the spark plug if you are not replacing it with a new one. Remove all dirt and debris from the spark plug.
   
3. Check the owner's manual for your car (or any appliance with spark plugs) to find out the recommended gap setting.
   
4. Use a gap tool to check the gap of the spark plug. Slip the tool between the ground electrode and center electrode. The gap tool should fit snugly at the recommended gap width indicated on the tool.
   
5. Push the tool between the electrodes a few times to ensure proper gap. If the gap is too wide, push the ground electrode firmly against a flat surface to narrow the gap and then check again with the gap tool.
   
6. Repeat Step 5 as necessary until you reach the correct gap. Reseat the spark plug and reattach the spark plug wires

never mess with spark plugs always use the factory recomend type for your engine and always use standard plugs not the fancy expensive iridium, platinum, gold, silver, its a gimmick you wont ever notice a difference and those plugs cost average $16 dollars a piece..my NGK stock plugs cost $2 yes i do have to replace them more often and regap them but i taught myself a trick so i dont have to do that anymore..it the gap for example say .035 i set it for .034 and leave them in for about a good 50k and as they wear down it'll probably be at a gap of .036 and at top speed plugs will operate more efficenltly with a slightly larger gap.

25th plug gap will cover all petrol engines

0.045 for the 4.3l

hesitation under excell can be spark related. check your spark plugs. they may be worn, with exsessive gap.
I always recomend AC delco plugs for GM engines. stay away from Bosch plugs.
Another thing to consider is fuel quality.
Try a different brand.
I have had lots of problems with Arco fuel.

look under the hood on the cover on the top of the raditor. there is a decal there and it has accessory belt routing and also the spark plug gap is listed there also.
