My 2001 325ci convertable bmw has the trunk light on. With it on, the electric roof will not work. Is there power going to the trunk latch. If so, which wire has the power. Is there a way to bypass...

The system is designed so that with the trunk open it will not open the roof. If the trunk is fully closed and the trunk light is still on, then find the switch in the boot which operates the light. If you disconnect any wires you could disable the boot completely. Including security.

I have a BMW 325 ci convertible. The roof unlock and opens like an inch only and stop. Then when I push to close, the roof moves back in place and locks. But it does not open all the way down. Why?

Its an electric roof? yes. sounds like the hydrolic motor needs bleeding should be in the boot. uou will need some power steering fluid.

if you can still here the motor then that should be ok, make sure there is nothing stopping the roof from moving freely in the back etc.

The motors are quite robust on these cars but it might be on its way out.

Convertible top on BMW will not raise or lower. Is there a manual way?

you can change to manual operation by pulling the releasse lever under the l/r seat and this deactivate the moters the roof will open and close manual but you will have to comvert the rear lid when open to secuer the resar lid when the roof is open and this to hold it down.two ruber hold downs like you would use a a beash buggy bonnet

93 convertible top wont go down

This happenrd to me the first few times after filling the tank. When the roof stops push the switch to up then back until movement stops then go back to down, eventually it will get rid of all the air in the system and the roof should start to work.

Convertible top will not retrack

Hi Stan

First of all the roof is not even soppose to operate while the trunk is open - So there is the first problem Ive been involved with BMW's for a long time and this is the first Ive heard of a roof opening while the trunk is open. There is a built in feature that tells the car not to open the roof if the trunk is open and the other way roung while the roog lid is open the trunk cant open.

The reason the roof is not working anymore as soon as there is stress on the roof the electric motors(One operates the roof and the other operates the roof lid)  disengages, You said that the roof still worked but the lid did not so probably only the one motor disengaged. So what you have to do is open the trunk on the left hand side right behind the tail light pull away the material and simply just push the electric motor into place. that should fix your problem.

It may happen that the two motors have become out of sync, Disengage both electric motors manualy put the roof away engage the motors and that should put the roof and lid back into sync.
