Where is the timing mark on the crank 98 a4 v6

I don't understand, are you doing a timing belt on a 4cyl or a timing chain on a v6 ether one it's a job you provably want to have done for a profecional mechanic that have the manuals and tools for this job don't even try

This web reference indicates a VAST difference between the V6 and V8...so you could be on the right track with your 180 degree comment:
"The V8 mark is 17.5°after TDC and the V6 mark is 147° after TDC"

Timing wrong

they have marks on them already,highlight them with chalk.

timing marks are on the cam and crank gears behind the timing cover

Yes,need to make sure crank is at TDC as well
