Hopefully this Transmission is still under warranty?
If its a stick the shifter or schronizers could be the culprit. If the vehicle is an automatic, shift solenoid, shifter, problems in 2nd and 3rd circuitry (band or clutch not releasing properly ),manual shift valve .
Take it back to whom ever did the rebuild or transmission work tell them the problem .
Business is so demanding these days they will probably do the right thing.

Go to the National Highway and Safety Administration web site .
look up your vehicle for recalls and Techinical Service Bulletins(TSB's) . This might be an ungoing thing with your vehicle. The dealers web site and Edmonds.com sometimes will post these items .
Usually if the ECU, PCU, PTM (whatever they want to call the module that controlls the tranny) was at fault there would be a code and a check engine light . Have the vehicle scanned (which is what most good Tech's do before anything else) and see what codes are listed and take it from there.Good luck and keep me posted.

It was sold to me without warranty. But it is doing the same thing my previous transmission was doing. But a few years ago there was a smell inside the trooper, like an electronic burn out component. Can it be the computer?
