I have a 2002 Hyundai Accent car. When I go to fill the car up with gas, the gas pump keeps shutting off. It takes FOREVER to fill up the car. I had two repairman go over the car, but they have no ideal on what to do. Please help!
The reason the gas station pump shuts off is when the fuel reaches the tip of the gas nozzle, so when you are filling your car and the gas nozzle (gas stations pipe) keeps shutting off it means that the pipe that runs to the gas tank is not open completely, what happens is when you pump the gas in the car the supply pipe from the gas tank opening to the tank fills up quickly and this causes the gas station pipe nozzle to shut off, have some body take down the gas tank and have a look at the gas tank opening and also gas supply pipe that runs from the gas filler opening ( on the car body) to the gas tank. Have a look at it and please don't forget to rate the answer if it was helpful, thanks!
Please revise your rating, low rating effects my general rating badly, if you are not satisfied with my answer comment and say why you think my answer is not helpful, thanks!
incorrect
Your evap system is the issue.
When you fill your tank, the vapors run through charcoal canister,
If the incorrect flow is occuring it will build pressure and back feed it back
to you. Shutting the pump off.
This happens alot.
Have your Evap system checked . Although it may be working correctly durring
running operation does not mean everything is closing after you shut it off.,

SOURCE: Can't get gas into my 2002 Hyundai Accent.
you have a restrictor in the fuel filler neck to stop fuel leaking out if the car overturns, unfortunately it also means you have to hold the fuel gun 1/2 way to stop it shutting off.also to fill right up, you have to rock the car a little when nearly full.autofill guns are only in USA/Canada. you cannot take out thr restrictor......
