id check your caliper to see if the piston is compressing all the way if not check your fluid it should be clean not brown or if you have been through large amounts of water if it has gotten into the brake system and check your bleeder valve to check if it has rotted or come lose or if you have a break in the lines or air, most likely your caliper is failing to compress.

When applying brakes on 99 Ford Explorer they feel good until just berfore stopping then it feels like a push back on pedal and a bit of chatter like the ABS is coming on. Doesn't feel right. No Problem...

I had the same problem with my 2002 Silverado. The grease seal on the right front wheel bearing went up letting grease build up on sensor . Disconnect ABS sensor wire at wheel one wheel at a time. Abs light on dash will come on but that's ok. drive and stop easy with wire disconnected until brakes feel normal. Then you will know wheel is the problem.

Hey I have a 98 volvo v90 wagon. I replaced rotors pads calipers and hoses from brake lines to calipers on the front. Now my abs light is on and when I brake only sometimes I can feel the brakes pulsating....

Hey man The ABS light is most likely a speed sensor out of range. It will not effect normal braking function. You have already spent a ton of money. Chasing an ABS light fault is not cost effective and you wont feel the difference. ABS problems are a dealer only option(expensive). Take that ABS bulb out of the dash and forget about it.

Abs light off and on front brakes sometimes feels like brakes skip dont want to stop.

Sounds like you ABS system kicking in. This could be caused by a faulty wheel sensor or a cracked sensor ring which will either be mounted on the CV shaft or it will be part of your wheel bearing assembly. Or you actually locked up one of your wheels on wet or slippery pavement, in this case that would be normal.

Abs system

it is a failed wheel bearing.the hub and bearing comes with an abs sensor and when the bearing could not be located by the sensor it will turn on the abs light and make the car skip when braking.check to see if your not missing any brake fluid and that the truck is still able to brake.if all is good then change the faulty wheel bearing.if you dont want to invest right away just disconnect the connector for the abs to the bearing.braking will feel normal and youll just have the abs light on.

Brake pedal vibrates while braking and doesent stop right away

There's speed sensors at each wheel. You may have got some contamination in front of one of them... sounds like the abs is trying to compensate for un equal speed at each wheel... and something may be blocking a proper read at one of the wheels...

Abs 1998 ford windstar

Really the best thing you can do is unplug one of the abs sensor wires by the front wheel and get it fix when you can..Really like they said you dont need them but they should have unhooked it for you because sometimes them things will engage when you dont want them to and that could get you in a wreck..But by unplugging the sensor it will by-pass the abs and it wont do that any moe.It will stop when you want to stop. But when it is slippery out side you know not to lock up the brakes..If you lock them up in slippery condition you will slide of the road..But if you know how to pump the brakes you'll have no problem slipping around..But other than that you really dont need them..thats really the only timee they really kick in is when its sliding. If you find someone later that will work on it cheap thats great..But dont forget to unplug that wire..That will stop that scarey feeling you get when you try to stop..Hope this helps you and have a great night!!!!!!!

ABS PROBLEM?

if this bothers you enough to spend money trying to fix it. and there are no abs codes a tech can find. i would replace the rear wheel speed sensor. located on top of the rear axle.if it irraticly reads a different speed than the front wheels. your abs will give you a drop in pedal and grinding feel or a pulsating pedal. i hope this is helpful. your problem is not one most people can figure out at home. trust your tech understands your prob and wants it fixed also. dont forget he is trying to get paid.good luck
