Difficulty is dependant on the following factors. 1) your experience 2) the location of the car when work is done e.g. yard/shop 3) whether you can LIFT the car, (as the starter will come out the bottom of the engine compartment). 4) what tools you have available and finally how motivated you are to complete the work. Step by step instructions can be obtained here.

I have a ford taurus... that seems to be making a clicking sound when trying to start it... and it wont start? does anyone know what the problem might be?

This problem is caused by a defective starter solenoid, the solenoid is mounted to the top of the starter motor. Generally the best thing to do is just replace the starter with a rebuilt part.

I need to replace the starter solenoid on a 2003 ford taurus

The starter solenoid is attached to the starter unlike the older Fords. You will have to remove the splash guard to gain access to the starter. It is located on the front side of the motor.

2003 ford taurus when u go to start it it just clicks new starter battery good won't start just clicks

If you can verify that the battery is good then I would say that the starter itself has failed. This clicking you hear is the solenoid on the starter attempting to engage the starter.

you need to remove it from the bottom front of car . disconnect the negative battery cable. remove the front splash shield from under front of car , working from under car take the protective cap off the wires that go to starter and then disconnect all wires from starter marking each one for propper reinstalation, remove the bolts holding starter and remove from under vehicle. replace in reverse order.
