Keyless Entry For 2003 Grand Am 2.2L 5 speed manual

I purchased the car used with no keyless entry remotes. Pontiac dealership said the car has keyless entry. I purchased two remotes and took it to the dealership to get them programmed. The mechanic said they would not program because of another problem. My question is, is there a module or something that needs replacing if the remotes do not program? Thanks.

The mechanic should be able to let you know what is the problem and what it takes to get it to work.
if the car was not equipted with the keyless entry and the dealer tried to sell you the remotes then you need to return the remotes.
by running the VIN on their computer, the dealer can tell you if you have it or not.
if I was you, I would just get a remote starting system from best buy or sam's then either have them install or have a good mechanic to install the system. it may be cheaper too!

How Do I Know If My Car Equipped With A Keyless Entry Remote System? I have a 1999 Ford Windstar. I bought several remotes but can't get my locks to engage. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Cathy

It does indeed have keyless entry. It needs reprogramming when you get a new remote. Also if you disconnect the battery. Usually a local car alarm fitting shop, or an auto-electrician will do it. Plus of course a Ford dealership.

Have verified that my newly purchased 03 kia sorento has remote keyless entry, but professional locksmith cannot get new remote to program. Remote is Bontec T009, pretty sure it is correct one. Could it be...

Yes the 03 and up sorento has a keyless remote entry, You do not need to reset the ECU, you however need to reprogram the remote trasmitter to your car so they communicate, otherwise it will never work if you do not program it. You will need to take this to a kia dealership with the remote transmitter. They may or may not charge you for a fee. However I did had a remote, and it became damaged when my kid drop it in the fish tank. I was able to get it done at the dealship, 35 for the remote, and 50 for service fee. I did however found some link referal to manually do it yourself, Please check this forum out http://www.kia-forums.com/2003-2010-sorento-forum/34549-remote-keyless-entry.html. For me, I did not bother, because I did not want to take the chance to mess up something else.

My turn signal noise is still on sometimes after i've turned, my brights don't stay on, keyless entry not working, and rear defrost not working.

TURN SIGNAL PROBLEM IS THE THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH.KEYLESS ENTRY REMOTES NEED NEW BATTERIES.THE DEALERSHIP WILL CHANGE REMOTE BATTERY AND REPROGRAM DOOR LOCKS.CHECK REAR DEFOGGER FUSE AND RELAY.IF BOTH GOOD.YOU HAVE A FAULTY DEFOGGER SWITCH OR OPEN IN THE GRID.YOU CAN BUY A GRID REPAIR KIT AT AUTO ZONE OR ADVANCE AUTO PARTS AND OREILLYS.

Suzuki 2003 - Keyless Entry not working, alarm goes off with key

Unfortunately, the keyless entry remotes and OE systems usually require a dealership to service them. Sounds to me like they need to re-set the alarm

'03 Hyundai Elantra - Keyless entry remote not working

It wouldn't be the car battery, but since you just purchased the car, the dealership should correct the problem. Bring it to their attention right away. Did you get any kind of warranty? Most dealers have at least a 30 day warranty for things like this.
