Had a used transmission installed after burn-out of original trani on 1986 BMW 325es. Original burned up due to leaking connector hose. "New" one is noisey on shifting, a clunking sound at lower speeds and when entering freeway very heavy thump shift, like getting hung up momentarily. Slipped quietly a couple of times. Sometimes seems okay which seems odd. Also seems sluggish, draggy. What to do? Took it back in and he tells me noise is normal(?)!!

You still have a 24 year old transmission. You could try changing the fluid and filter but probably will need it overhauled. Try AAMCO.

Get a second opinion! We had a trans replaced that failed. The mechanic told my in laws I was seen beating the car on a particular day. Actually I was working in New York. Caught him in a lie and got our money back! My point, get it checked a few times. I have been told another trans of mine was shot by a trans shop. Actually my TV cable just needed adjusted. It was fine!

I have a 2006 dodge stratus 2.4 I just took the trani out and replaced all the seals due to a major leak she ran good no leaks for a week now she is pouring out trani fluid again where could it possibly be...

Did you prelube the seals after installation? Possibly damage one while installing? Use car wash pressure hose to clean things up, then try to find where the leak is.

My 2003 suburban rear blower not working replaced blow it works jumped out check resister I have 12 v going to the resister but ony 1.7 volts to blower replaced resister worked for a week then stoped...

If your original blower burned up, or if the original resistor failed, it is likely that some of the wires leading to the resistor and blower BURNED slightly in the process, and will need to be replaced all the way back to where they connect to the fuse block. (The wires may have been pinched or otherwise damaged somewhere, so they no longer carry the amount of current required, causing the resistor to fail due to a low-voltage over-current condition.) Sadly a failed resistor can also burn the motor out. Check the windings of the motor (via the connector) using an ohmmeter to see if it is still good.

When first started black smoke comes out exhaust pipe,, what could this be

Black smoke is burning oil. Blue smoke is usually transmission fluid due to a leaking modulator valve in the older auto transmission. White smoke is due to water getting in to a cylinder from a bad gasket, cracked block or a cracked head. Black smoke from engines on starting and/or running tends to mean there is fuel leaking into the engine, or the fuel mix is incorrect and not atomised correctly. the main causes are normally a nakered air filter that isnt letting enough clean air into the engine to mix. a blocked fuel filter, which is either not letting enough fuel in, or in some cases, a faulty fuel filter which is letting too much fuel into the engine, and causing black smoke due to excess burning. Black smoke is a fuel/air mixture suggestion problems with injection or carbonation. Cause of black smoke is due to running rich in the fuel air mix. Check the oil,the oil leak, the air filter, the fuel pump and fuel filter to confirm the fault.

My axles slip out the rear differential on my 1986 bmw 325es

If axles are slipping out the c-clip on the axle tips (end that goes inside differential) is badly worn. Replace these and your problem should go away.

How do you fix the lower radiator hose in 2001 BMW x5 3.0i

is it leaking ? did it collapse? or did it burst?
you can access this if the car is raised up in the air or jacked up on jackstands than remove everything in your way undue the hose clamps for the hose and than yank it off and install the new one but make sure you do it when the engine is cold or you can get serious burns
