94 chevy k1500 wont shift past 2nd gear.

Check the sensors on the transmission. May just be corrosion on the sensors or it may be a faulty sensor. Also, the torque converter bearing may have went bad due to the running it on low transmission fluid.

Is the speedometer working?

97 c1500 or k1500,. not told. just 1/2 ton sure. K1500 is 4wd got that?
the 4wd sensors are not the same. ok? no engine told either, guess 4.3L only
4L60-E; 4 speed Automatic trans. or 4L80e
that is and E box, electronically TCM shifted.

the TCM can be scanned, why not do that?

sensors all 2, input speed and outputs speed, and if 4wd OSS is on the rear of 4wd transfer care, moved, for 4wd.
solenoids not bad in box. 1>2 and 2>3 shift and 3<4 shift.
scan the TCM.

the ECM on the car 4.3L runs the Tranny (TCM logic) 12 connection.
so not scanning the ECM OBD2 port ,you fully miss the boat and it sailed
the good ship of facts gone. DTC errors for sure missed.

i have a 1994 cadillac seville sls and it wont shift out of 2nd gear i have replaced the shift silenoid "B" and the vss and it still wont shift and the pcm is still good. What else could it be?

Hi, yes I just had the same problem and the clutch packs inside the transmission are slipping. I had to replace all the clutch packs as well as the bands. The parts for this job really aren't that expensive. you could get everything you need for less than 300 bucks. however labor is where they kill you. It's about a 10 hour job or maybe 12 depending on application. average shop rate 80 an hour you looking at 900 dollars labor plus parts. if your mechanically inclined and have tools you could take your time and do it yourself. you can buy a step by step DVD for your specific application. other wise I would call around to transmission shops. their is a slight chance it may also be your solenoid pack. the best way to confirm is to have a transmission line pressure test done. Had a similar problem with same model pickup but would shift into third only after reaching high RPM in second @5000. There was TSB that came out about this a few years ago. I had to replace the valve body in the transmission to fix the problem and worked perfectly after that. Hope this helps!

You don't have torque converter shudder. You don't even mention that in your original post! You def had a solenoid issue. My 94 STS did the same thing. I only had reverse, 1st and 2nd gear. Wouldn't shift outa 2nd period. It was a $200 solenoid repair. Car had a 160K on it when that happened. I have almost 170k on it now. Shifts and works fine. you don't need the tranny replaces ad josavv63 indicates.

first of all your truck is already in first gear when your going down the road....lol
