This Nissan should have a timing chain instead of a timing belt. I suggest taking it to a shop and letting a professional look at it. I have had a 98sx chain slip 180 degrees often.

My 2006 Sentra has a squeal coming from the front of the motor, the car is not over heating or losing amps belts look good also.sounds like a vacuum leak.

Squealing from engine bay is a pulley bearing or a belt slipping. Idler pulleys go bad and should be changed out the same time as the belt.

Replace timng belt

well maybe there was some mis-communication there , nissan stopped using timing belts in sentra's and actually most all models in 2000 , maybe they were telling you that your serpentine belt needed changed ? but to answer your question , you do not have a timing belt in your 2002 nissan sentra . its a chain . thanks

I have Nissan sentra GX 2002 90000Miles ,change timing belt?

I own this car, and I can say confidently that it has a timing chain instead of a belt. I believe you do not need to change the chain at any point...... it is more a matter of maintenance and repair to worn guides and tensioners.

Replace the timing belt tensioner on a 1990 Nissan Sentra

The belt tensioner is located under the timing cover. It is 1 1/2 round and about 3/4 inch with a groove in the middle where a bolt is tightened. When you remove the timing cover you will see the timing belt, the camshaft sprocket and the crankshaft gear. The timing belt goes around these components.. The belt tensioner is loosened and the new timing belt is placed. The sproket also has to be replaced if it is broken. Be careful to notice the little marks that are aligned on the sproket and above the camshaft.. They can be small arrows that have to be aligned exactly the way you took them off. replace the belt and you tighten the tensioner so the belt fits snug and tighten the bolt in the middle of the belt tensioner. It is not too difficult, if you know something about mechanics. If you don't, you will be better of taking it to somebody who does know.
