Open rear hatch and remove the 2 screws holding in taillight assy. Grab taillight firmly and wiggle off. Remove bulb socket and replace bulb. Reassemble in reverse
Brake light switch has failed replace it and the lights and cruise should work. When the switch fails it comes apart and the computer thinks the brak is on and the lights won't come on.Costa $20.00 and has a three wire plug on it and is simple to change.
Check all the lights, I know on my 85 the circet is open if more then two bulbs are burnt out. As soon as I changed the two bad bulbs the rest kicked in. Didn't make much since but it worked for me.
I have a 2003 Ford ZX2, and I think I had the same problem before, I think it is a fuse somewhere. I believe that the breaklights and dash lights are connected. My dad is a mechanic and I will check with him.
