Hi from the uk in answer to your question you do not need to disconnect or remove the abs sensor you just remove the brake drum from the hub then remove shoe locating springs that retain shoes to backplate then lift off and remove bottom return spring this then allows you to slip the brake shoes off w/cyl at top complete with spring and auto adjuster ? then to remove the handbrake cable just pull the shoe and the quadrant lever apart so cable can be lifted out of the hook up on lever ? you can now interchange shes/springs /adjuster on your bench ? also run te adjuster wheel back on thread to off position this will enable you to fit shoes back to backplate and moreso help in fitting cable to its hookup ? when brakeshoes are refitted ? and centralized on back plate ? you can manuall rotate the adjuster wheel and keep tryin the drum for fitting and rotating with no binding trial/error method when satisfied ? refit screws to secure drum then do same with other side when completed you must bleed both wheels this will improve b/pedal your handbrake will also be better/less travel when applied hope these instructions help you ? best wishes from uk

Abs & brake light coming on randomally on 2002 dodge durango

Take it to Auto Zone or other parts store and have them run a free diagnostics scan. Then reply with the code. If no codes are present, you can start checking the front abs sensors. I dont believe there are rear sensors on these models.

I changed the front brake rotors and pads also the rear cyliners and shoes and bled the rear brakes but not the front because i didnt disconect the front brake lines. So why is my brake pedal so soft? and...

keep bleeding and bleed the front as well the littlest amount of air will keep pedal spongy if the abs came on after doning brakes check the abs lines and connections up front the abs lines sometimes get banged up will doing brake job the abs sensor is the wire that runs from behind the rotor to the fire wall sometimes they get hit knocked into or damaged if wiring looks good have vehicle scanned for code .the code will make it easier to pinpoint what side-- if circuit problem--or if sensor went bad most auto stores offer scanning for free

Changed front pads and rear shoes, now abs light stays on

A common problem with fords. The brake pads and shoes are semi-metalic, and the abs sensor is magnetic. With time and wear from the old pads, and dirts and road grime, All of these things build up on the sensor. Fortunately this is usually a simple fix. If you don't already have this on had, go to you closest parts store and get a can of Brake Cleaner. The cheapest will do just fine. Locate the abs sensor ( usually on the hub assembly ) and spray them off. Be generous with the brake cleaner. By the time you crank your car back up, this light should be gone.
