My tension pulley screw hole is stripped - my tension pulley for the serpentine belt popped off, I took a look at the hole for the screw that keeps the pulley on and it is completely stripped. What is the part of the engine block that this hole is on? It looks like a thick plate bolted on to the side of the engine that seems to maintain the serpentine mechanism...
The easiest way to fix this problem is to install a helicoil in the stripped bolt hole. This is a specialist job that requires special tools, but I would not expect it to be very expensive other than any work required to gain access to the bolt hole. Go to a local mechanic and ask them to install a helicoil. If they have never heard of this, go somewhere else.
Testimonial: "Hello! Thank you for answering this question. I don't understand what's happened here - I gave away my Cutlass to charity in August 2017 and this question was posted in September 2017. I may have created this account but I did not post this question. Any thoughts on what's happened? Thanks again!"

maybe the wire is severed where the door (drver dr) pivots. thats what was wrong with mine. there is a rubber boot with crinkles in it that hold all the wires together. you can also try replacing the switch board that controls the wndws on the drvr dr. hope that helps.

are you sure you put it on the right way go to autozone.com and get a belt diagram. did you put the belt on upsidedown?
SOURCE: change serpentine belt and tension pulley and idle pulley and
could be the alternator, water pump
take the belt and spin all the pulleys and listen for noise and make sure they turn smoothly
another trick is to take a can of wd40 or equivalent and spray the bearings 1 at a time till the noise goes away or quiets down

You need to put a piece of wood underneath the oil pan and place a jack underneath the oil pan/motor, loosen the motor mounts that are next to the belts, then raise the motor enough to reveal the nuts/bolts for pulley...just dont raise the oil pan so high that you crush it or break something, only enough to be able to reach tension pulley...
