Eiter the wheels need balancing or they are out of round .
Upper strut bushing and struts need replacement. If its the struts ater they are replaced do a wheel alignment.

Hi let me clarify this . Your wheels need two type of balancing Dynamic and Static. At 55 mph in all likelyhood its dynamic balance that is off. They do both at the shops automatically, BECAUSE YOU CAN'T DO ONE WITHOUT THE OTHER.

The tech will be able to tell you if your tires are in good shape, the wheel is out of round or there are problems with the rims.

If the vehicle has chassis oscillations then its struts and upper strut bushings. But its not a bad idea to have the front end inspected.

Just as a precaution, have the front suspension checked. It is most likely that the front wheels need to be balanced. Double check for abnormalities such as bubbles and seperation of the tread. Usually though if the tires were seperated, they would make an appearance at low speeds. Good news! Also if the shocks have not been replaced in the last few years, it would be very advisable. It will aslo help with tire wear.

After new tires, balance and wheel alignment 2000 v 70 starts to shimmie @ 55 shimmie ends around 75. Any help would be great! thanks!

i would take it back to where i got the tires. a set of mounted new tires with a balance should not make the car worse than it was, especially with an alignment too.

My 1999 jeep cherokee sport will shimmy after hitting a bump at 55 mph. should I be replacing suspention arms and bushings?

Need to get it checked first but reckon you may have a buckled wheel, or similar. Also check tyre doesn't have a dangerous bulge in it due to carcass failure.

92 f-15o 4x4 auto trans shimmy

Could be a bad tranny mount. Look at all the mounts for broken rubber or rusted hangers. I have seen this in other fords as well. Also it would be a good idea to change your transfer case oil.
