I recently purchased a 1995 Geo Metro at a wrecking company auction. It runs great, but would not move. It is a low mileage car, & is very sound & the price was very good. I had it towed to the house where I discovered the clutch & pressure plate in the trunk. I am now trrying to figure out how to pull the 5 speed transmission, to diagnose the problem. Anyone know how to get it out or maybe know where I could find a diagram? I hate to go out & buy a manual, not knowing if the vehicle is a keeper or not! Thanks Brian

There are three main bolts. two are located on the side near the radiator - one on top and one very near the manifold. There is one bolt almost dead center top of the transmission. Also you need to remove the starter which has two bolts in it. A bracket from the metal water line has a bolt in it on the end of the transmission. You will need to remove the battery. There are several wire connections going to various motor/transmission parts that will need to be disconnected. Remove the speedometer Gear - only one bolt holds this in. From there you need to unbolt the motor mounts. One on the firewall and one connected to the frame close to the radiator. Also remove the clutch spline connection from the top of the transmission. This should get you really close. Spend some time inspecting and pull gently to insure all things are disconnected and unbolted and you should be golden.

Why will my 1995 Geo Metro not start?

You have a pick-up coil in the distributor that tells the computer when to fire the injectors, I would guess this might be your problem, you are getting fuel to the injectors, but not into the engine.

Geo metro 1996

I believe it will since the model of car is not greatly changed over 4 years and the 95 was the first in the revamped Geo series. They mostly just change the body style not the engine parts.

I have a 1997 geo metro and I want to use parts from it to keep my 1995 geo metro running. Is this possible? specifically an alternator.

Body parts change ever so much from year to year, but the engine parts(if same size engine) should. On the body parts, you will just have to check.

Fifth gear will not shift in and kicks it back out, were can i get acheap transmission

I would call your local auto recycler, sometimes you can find a low mileage transmission for a reasonable cost.
