check if the drive belt is tight enough , if is sounds like the power steering pump is faulty , is it better when reving engine ? try this while vehicle is stationary , if when reving engine the steering becomes better i would say the pump needs replacing
Replace the belt and retension it properely as it appears the the belt is slipping hence no power steering pump assist and the alternator is not driving
If Your steering wheel keeps turning as in a 360 degree circle that means the steering column has broken or came away from the steering rack they are usually connected by what you call steering ujs something on shaft from column to rack has broken away nothing to do with cv joints or brake fluid if it was belt related that has snapped the steering will still turn it will be just really heavy the pump just helps assist steering my money is on the steering column shaft
hey
Problem looks quit similar to mine. There could be a leak in one of the hous or and the prower steering pump leak.
U might wanna change the COMPLETE RACK ASSEMBLY AND OR THE P/S PUMP.
Sounds like the belt that drives your steering pump is the same belt that drives your alternator, eh? Are you sure you don't have a loose, slipping, or broken steering/alternator belt? I assume you have looked under the hood, and that the engine did not die.
Check the steering fluid level, as mentioned above, and inspect the belts. Steering pumps need their fluid, BUT I Can't imagine why a low steering fluid level would cause the warning lights to come on unless a belt is at fault or the engine died. Belt could still be in place, but just sliding across the crucial pulleys. So watch it run and note if all the pulleys are turning or not. I'm betting the belt broke, slipped, or an accessory pulley locked up. Namely: steering pump or alternator.
Report back if this is not the problem please. Hope this helps. Tater Todd
