the car was running but was in park then went to back up and it quit running, and now it wont start back could the crank sensor be what is wrong with the ford contour? If so is it behind the timing belt, and will the belt and pully need to come off.

You can try a couple of things before you tow it to a repair shop. The first thing to do is turn the key and see if the check engine light comes on. If it does, crank the engine and watch what it does. If it goes out during cranking, your crank sensor is probably not your problem. When you are cranking the engine, does it turn at the normal rpm and sound normal? Try this and let me know what you get.Chuck

Where can I find the crank sensor on a 2009 Nissan Titan v8 truck?

i think it's the starter. On most nissans, the starter and the crank position sensor are close to each other. Some nissans have 4 position sensors, between crank sensor, crank angle sensor, cam position sensor, and sensor sensing sensor, oh and cam angle sensor. Oh wait, maybe it's a bad ground. Nope, gotta be the staerter.

2000 v10 ford f350 wont start with out either

If the crank sensor circuit is malfunctioning, then that is your problem. The code does not mean that you must replace your crank sensor. (sometimes it means this, sometimes it does not) The code means that either the crank sensor CIRCUIT is out of range or the crank sensor cannot SYNCRONIZE with the cam sensor. There is a whole lot more to diagnosing a crank sensor circuit than simply replacing the crank sensor. Proper diagnostic procedures need to be followed to locate the exact cause of the problem.

Does this pertain to the Crank Shaft or the Ignition sensor? I've never heard of a crank sensor... I'll check...

I found this from a guy on another website..."It does however have a crank sensor and if you look at the lower crank pulley just to the back of the pulley and go around the pulley you should find the sensor mounted on a bracket. You should see what appears as a sprocket with widely spaced teeth on the engine side of the pulley. This "sprocket" so to speak is what the crank sensor "reads". I believe that the crank sensor is the only sensor used for engine timing. "

Good Luck
