SOURCE: 1987 944 porsche transmission and differntial fluid

I'm assuming that this is a 5 speed stick car because you mentioned 80-90 oil. This car has a transaxle, not a a separate transmission and differential. The transaxle houses the transmission gears and the differential all in one housing. There is a drain plug on the bottom a fill plug on the side. Here's a link to one of the best do-it-yourself 944 sites on the web. Click on the "garage shop manual" link in the sidebar and scroll down to "transaxle fluid change".

Under the the feet of the passenger. If you pull back the carpet there will be a plywood cover, the ecu is under that.

SOURCE: what kind of oil do I need to get for my 1987 Porsche 944 Turbo

it all depends on how many miles the car has, if had you put synthetic oil in your car b4, where do you live is it cold weather or hot. well its a Porsche 944 so it probably has a lot of miles you should probably put a higher wt oil so i would use mobile 1 fully synthetic 10W30

The transmission is worn. The cheapest fix is changing to a high quality synthetic fluid. This will allow for easier shifting when it is cold.
