Toyota ipsum 2002 check light comes on with code P1346.

The check light comes on with code P1346 which means Variable valve timing sensor/Camshaft position sensor circuit range performance Blank 1. I have changed the cam sensor and the VVT sensor and the light still comes back. Car runs excellent.Light comes on a few minutes after driving, if you shut off the engine and restart it the light goes out but comes on back. Toyota ipsum 2002.

did you clean off all terminals when you installed the new sensors? make sure that the wires are not yanked out of plug.

This is a code for variable valve timing sensor circuit range performance. possible causes are timing chain stretched or jumped timing causing a correlation difference between the can shaft signal and the crank shaft signal, if timing components are good then it might be a bad engine control module.

SOURCE: vvt-i pros and cons in 2.4lts. toyota cars

The VVT-i will outperform a car without it. ANY car with variable valve timing is a PLUS. Under hard acceleration, the duration of the valve opening timing changes, this results in a bit more power. Then, at idle.easy acceleratin, they change again. They continously change, depending on your driving...it "Learns", your driving...that is the " i " part in VVT-i.
Varible Valve TIming (with) intelligence". It's a good thing.

A FixYa rating would be most appreciated.

SOURCE: '03 Toyota Corolla 1,4 VVT-i 4ZZ engine idle rpm

Idle is factory set and cannot be adjusted, your best bet is checking for cracked hose pipework for air intake at idle,(not at problem under exceleration and driving) Any slight upset to the air /fuel ratio will be most prevelent at idle speeds.Check hoses where the meet metal flanges on manifold intakes and any sharp bends in ppipes.Good luck

What's your question code p1346 for passo whats is the problem

The trouble code is described in the repair manual as a problem with the V V T(variable valve timing) bank 1, this is the cylinder head closest to the firewall. There is a deviation between the crank position sensor and the vvt sensor on the camshaft, I would suggest rechecking the belt timing again, especially on the bank 1 side, make sure that all the electrical connectors are plugged in for the cam and crank sensors.

Code 1346 on 2002 toyota sienna

P1346 is the code for:
VVT Sensor /Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Range/ Performance Problem (Bank 1)
If the code came on just after the timing belt replacement more than likely the sensor was damged in some way during the work. The sensor is located in the same area the mechanic was working in while changeing the timing belt. You should have this checked right away. A faulty cam sensor can also lead to the vehicle not starting.
