Hi i have asked this question before or similar. i put a 1993 motor in my 1992 crown vic. the original burned to much oil. so now i have a 1993 motor in my 1992 crown vic.when the 93 motor was first started i had no pressure in the oil gauge in the instrument cluster. it read zero.so after putting a brand new oil pressure sensor in close to the oil filter it started working. but after driving it for a few days the oil pressure gauge was all over the place. never a steady pressure. so i put another sensor in. now the gauge is telling me the oil pressure is always why to high. the needle go from 12 oclock to 6 oclock. with the second sensor it reads 1 oclock or 12 oclock. way to high. from what the old motor ran. now i did have a pressure test on the oil.it was running at 32lbs in idol. 40-50 at 1500 rpm.but the gauge the mechanic had was aratic it didnt want to stay in one place at 1500 rpm. but it was close to 40-50 pressure.so what i am thinking is .the oil sensor beside the oil filter is not a ford sensor. i think maybe this might be the problem.do you know if the motor is sencative to non ford parts? i have a ford sensor on order. if this new ford sensor does not work. what do you think the problem is? oil pump?

Whattyou should do is hook up a meter at the sensor to see if its as erratic as the gauge.. If you get a better steady signal I would suspect wiring or a bad gauge . You stated the mechanic had better results hooked strait into the motor wich means the problem is most likely not the sensor or the engine. You could try removing the sensor and with an air compressor try to back blow the passage and see if that helps. Its possible you could have a chunk of crude floating around.

How big is the gas tank on a 1992 ford crown vic. how many miles to the gallon. my gas gauge doesnt work. so i dont know anything about the gas.

1992 Ford Crown Vic 4.6 L V8 Automatic

Fuel tank capacity is 20 gallons (US).

Your fuel consumption will be affected by many factors, such as :
- how you drive the vehicle
- the condition and tune of the motor
- driving conditions (traffic, city use, highway use etc)
- tire pressures
- type and grade of fuel used .

It is impossible for me to estimate what fuel consumption you can expect from your own particular car without a whole lot of information.

It's unwise to run the vehicle for long with no working fuel gauge.

How to remove oil pump

My advice is go to auto supply house buy a repair manual (I would ask the clerk which repair manual they recommend) and check for other issues i.e. distributor (there is a shaft directly driven from the distributor to the oil pump that is notorious for breaking and causing issues with the oil pump on this motor) and other things that can cause problems with the oil pump on the crown vic before you get into removing and replacing oil pump conduct a through investigation with the assistance of the repair manual that you choose, they range from 30.00 to about 50.00. I really hope that my advice helps you and if you feel at all uncomfortable preforming the mechanics yourself after research please find a mechanic.

Car does not leak oil does not smoke and has good compression.but uses oil last time checked 1 qt in 500 miles 2005 ford crown vic

Hi:
Often the oil is simply getting past the small seals around the valve stems, and being burnt by the engine. You won't see smoke, because your catalytic converter burns it all up. it will eventually ruin your catalytic converter, so it might be worth fixing, rather than adding oil all the time?

Hello i have a 92 crown vic i just put a 93 4.6 in it last week. the original motor was burning to much oil. everything is working great now exept for one small problem. i had a new oil pressure gauge...

cause the amount of power its sending to the gauges surpasses that of your last engine.. !!!! so although it looks high,, its actually normal for that engine !

1992 crown vic with 78K miles. Started skipping

Replace you Maf sensor and have a nice day. lol does the hesitation go away when you let off the gas. does it buck hesitate and misfire under load? most common problem is the maf sesnor.
easy to change. don't buy a used part it may develop the same problem after a little while. you can try cleaning the wire inside with brake cleaner (not intake cleaner). it may or may not help.

Radio does not work in 1993 crown vic, want to put in a replaceme

Go to your local auto parts store where you can purchase a Ford audio removal tool. It looks like a wire shaped "U" that is inserted in the holes on face of audio system ..Follow the directions for use , you will find it a pretty easy task with the correct tool..
