99 chevy malibu v6 3.1 engine, head bolt torque is-- 98 through 2001 is step1- 37 foot lbs, step 2- rotate an additional 90 degrees (1/4 turn). the rocker arm bolts are 168-in. lbs.

    I do not have a diagram but, you can go to any auto parts store and buy a haynes manual. they are based on a complete tear down of your car, for about 25.00, rocker bolts rotate an additional 30 degrees, after you torque to 168 -in lbs. just did the intake gaskets on my car, and I followed the manual everything turned out just fine.

if the 8th number om your VIN is a "J" then this is the correct prossess 3.1LTorque sequence --------- ' 6 2 3 7 ' ' 5 1 4 8 ' --------- Step 1: torque in sequence to 37 Ft/Lbs Step 2: turn an additional 90 degrees recheck final torque in sequence *** CAUTION ***engine uses Torque To Yield head bolts (TTY) thatpermanently stretch during the initial installation.New head bolts must be used when cylinder head isreplaced or re-installed to obtain proper torque.Always coat bolt threads with the proper sealant.

I need to know the torque specs for the head gasket for a 99 2.2 pontiac sunfire

Install cylinder head bolts finger-tight. New cylinder head bolts are recommended due to stretch of the old bolts.
Tighten bolts in sequence, tighten the long bolts to 46 ft. lbs. (63 Nm) plue 90 degrees. Tighten the short bolts to 43 ft. lbs. (58 Nm)


Install pushrode and rocker arms and rocker arm nuts. Tighten nuts to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).


Install valve cover and tighten bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
