The rear window went down a couple of inches and wont stay up

The rear window went down a couple of inches and will not stay up. Do you think it could be the motor or could the window come off the track. Difficult or expensive to fix?

This a fairly common problem with Altimas. Unfortunately you'll probably have the best luck just taking it to the dealer as the windows are controlled by a computer and certain functions need to be programmed by a dealer only tool. I know that part of your problem is related to a function in the system that prevents hands from being trapped in the window when it is closing. The idea is if the window is going up and it feels an obstruction before it reaches the top, it backs down a couple of inches. This means that the window needs to know where the top and bottom of it's travel is, which is done through programming. It also means that if the window track gets sticky and the computer thinks that it's hitting an obstruction, it will back down a couple inches when you're in the middle of trying to go up. For a temporary way of dealing with it, I've found that quick blips on the up button will allow you to get past the invisible "hand" that the computer thinks is in the way.

Hope this helps,
Dave

Windows on lincoln ls

you will have to replace the whole regulator. check with your local used parts dealer for cheapest price. those regulators can range from 100 to 300 dollars and in some cause more. also for temp solution shove a piece of cardboard between inside window felt and glass to create pressure. it will help hold it up through the bumps

Rear window slipping down about 1 inch, but still on the track.

The Regulator will fix the problem. The tracks might also need a little adjustment.(loosen bolts move track then retighten) Try holding the window while you are rasing it you might be able to guide it up so that it will close a bit more.

Hi i have a land rover freelander 00.back door wont open or tailgate windoe wont go down, the rest of the doors work. help

try a hard restart, if that doesnt work then you need a new rear window motor. for the hard restart all you have to do is disconnect the battery cables and touch the positive and negative together for about 8 seconds. if that fails then a new motor it is.
