    I have the same issue on my 99 Jeep Grande Cherokee. Did you ever find out what the issue was? Im about to change the TCM to see if that corrects the problem.

I would check the transmission fluid level and color, should be a nice clear red color. You may need to have the filter replaced. Possibly some internal transmission problem also.

Did you scope the TPS Sensor?

Did you use old trans sensors
That may have been your only problem

Just saying ,won't even guess,speed sensor maybe

Shift cable
you will have to tear apart the center console to gain access to the shifter and cable assy, then you will have to get under the rig to unhook it from the trans, pay attention to what gear it is in and the location and routing of the cable, have fun!

Having problems with it shifting gears properly, it seems to pull and the **** when catches not sure what it could be...its a 2004 jeep grand cherokee laredo v6 4.0L
get a filter and fluid change in the transmission.
that 5 speed automatic is tricky.

do a code scan and see if there is a vacuum leak telling it to shift too late

Shifting lever doesnt lock
Likely the shift detent mechanism is broken. It's inside the unit and can be reached by removing the trans pan. It should be just inside where the shift lever goes through the case.

Just pull up on the 4 wheel drive lever .. You can shift on the fly to part time and full time but you gotta stop and in park or neutral you can shift into 4 wheel lo .. I have one myself .. love those jeeps .. you "understand"
