Before putting my car in storage a few months ago my old battery was nearly dead I needed to... in a Z4) but the same big yellow battery light is still on my dash appearing for .... Hi guys I own a 2005 Z4 2.5i Auto and there is a weird whining sound.

OK, long story but here it goes (hopefully the length will help with ... I hook the jumpstarter up to the battery, let it sit 1-2 minutes, then ... The AZ rep. tells me that my battery is at 9V and this is why my car .... Mein Auto: 2004 X3 2.5i ... If battery is original (2005) it is more than likely one cell has shorted out. Z4 starter motor and related problems.

I could not start my Z this morning after not driving it for the past 4 days because of the weather. All lights come on the dash including the head lights but it won't crank. ... If the starter is not cranking because of the battery being too drained .... BMW Z4 2.5i started slow and finally would make a clicking noise.

How to replace the alternator on your BMW

You have to go the nearest battery dealer and have your battery check for a load test to find out if it is still okay and they would check also your voltage output from the alternator.

It sounds like the alternator is going bad. I reccommend pulling the alternator and having it checked out, most auto stores do this as a free service. There could also be another problem on the rpm thing but I would start with alternator and inspect all other pulleys that the belt rides with. Good luck.

SOUND LIKE ALTERNATOR NOT CHARGING BATTERY.

Go to WalMart, Sears, Pep Boys, O' reilley's, etc. & buy a battery charger. They're about $25 - $35 for a low-end model. Or you can just get a jump start from someone else (via jumper cables between their battery & yours) & drive the car for a while - your alternator should charge the battery back up.
How old is the battery? If it's at least a couple years old, it may be dying. Or you may have a bad alternator or an electrical short that's draining it. If you charge it up & it drains again withing a few days, you need to investigate a possible bad battery, alternator, or other electrical defect.

It's a possible combination of both. A bad battery won't ever hold a charge and a drive of 30 miles should have charged the battery sufficiently to start the next day. Since the car would run once jumped, the alternator appears to be doing it's job but without having it tested (most auto parts chains will perform this test free of charge) it's impossible to tell whether it's putting out enough amperage to adequately to charge the battery.

It sounds like the engine is running on battery power only.The engine of today`s technology needs the alternator to have enough ignition to run on,lights and computer,etc,will be affected by low voltage,and amps.The alternator is not charging,look for a charging fuse to see if it is blown.If the fuse is fine,replace the alternator,and have the battery recharged on a slow 2 amp charge so it will recover it`s loss of deep cycle amps.This will prolong battery life and alternator.If I can help let me know.Let me know the out come.

Sound like an alternator problem or loose connection on the charging system....theyre is a simple test you can do.....charge up the battery,start engine...mesure with an voltmeter betwen the baterie post it should read 13 -14 volt if not check for loose or coroded main wire and connector, blown charging system fuse....if you dont see anything then the alternator is most likely the cause

Get a Beck Arnley alternator. The auto-zone, Napa etc. alternators are a problem for Isuzu's. I worked at a dealership and a lot of them came in for this problem. If you still have the original have it rebuilt. Check yellow pages.
