Most front wheel bearings are pressed in you half to take the whole control arm off pull out the hub press out the bearing grease the new one and press it in its best to take it to a machine shop do not try pressing it in yourself

Can you just replace a wheel bearing on a 04 Dodge Ram 1500 2wheel drive , or is it best too replace with the hub

I’m assuming that you are taking about the front wheel, then yes, you need to replace the entire hub. The bearing does not come apart.

Absstayson/1998grandprix

Most likely causes:
Front wheel hubs need replaced (do both at one time)
Front rotors warped or worn (change rotors and pads both wheels together)

The noise from the brakes dragging or the wheel bearings humming gets picked up by the abs sensors in the hubs before you can hear them. A few hundred miles later, the problem will get worse enough to hear while driving. Wheel hub replacement best done on a lift with an enormous impact wrench. 23952739-za4bqvjhdrn3arnyccyp5xaz-2-0.jpg

I just had my 2007 Volvo S40 right front wheel bearing replaced. However, there is still a roaring noise coming from the front of the car when I turn the wheel to the right. My mechanic told me that...

Turning to the right changes the load on the left, but that
isn't the problem

The problem is poor diagnoses & failure to replace both
wheel bearings when one fails

After all-- they both have the same mileage on them

I have 2 questions...1. I have a 2001 Volvo V70 wagon automatic that hesitates before going into 1st gear. 2. I am hearing a noise that seems to be coming from my left front wheel. Maybe wheel bearings?...

hesitation is probably down to gearbox fluid being low bearings can be a nightmare but in best case u just need to take the hub off and get the bearings pressed out. if u take the hub off yourself and take it to sum were to get pressed u looking at an hours labor and w/e the bearings cost if they come out easily

2001 Volvo S40 misfire

I had a similar problem, I "thought" for sure it was a mis-fire. It turned out to be a problem with the right front axel & bearing assembly needing to be replaced. Once replaced & after a $600-$700 bill, it started running smoothly again. Good luck

I need to replace my front wheel bearings and I was looking for a step by step instructions along with pictures show the parts?

You can't just replace the bearings. You've got to replace the entire wheel hub (thank you genius engineers at Chevy). My driver side front wheel was rubbing the frame and the hub cost around $350 plus $150 labor.

Replacing a rear wheel bearing Hub on a 2001 celica 190?

I had this same problem myself. The hub is a sealed unit and must be purchased as a whole assembly to the tune of around $400 from Toyota. Long story short I never replaced my hub. The problem turned out to be tires that were worn out. I figured that out when i rotated the tires and the sound moved to the front of the car... Go figure. Replaced the tires and all the noise went away.
