88 - 89 festiva "L" models came with a 4 speed. Unless it has been swapped with a 5 speed from an 88 - 89 "LX" or a 90 - 93 festiva 4 gears is all you have. Everything you ever wanted to know about your festiva can be found a fordfestiva.com. I've seen 8 festivas with 500,000 miles now. They are bullet proof and big time fun. Easy to work on too. And most owners are really down to earth because we don't care what people think of us. Festivas are also easy and cheap to make very fast. Get on the forum. We will welcome you!
CHECK THE COOLANT LEVEL. IF IT IS TOO LOW, THEN THE HEATER CORE WILL NOT GIVE YOU HEAT LIKE IT IS SUPPOSE TO. OR PERHAPS THE HEATER CORE IS CLOGGED. CHECK IT OUT AND KEEP ME POSTED PLEASE. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA AND FOR AN HONEST RATING TOO. GOOD LUCK
The heater only blows HOT air when set on defrost or floor settings.
If you have the lever set for vent, only cold air will come out.
Check to make sure you set the controls to floor or defrost.
This is standard for all Festiva's.
