there should be a special fuel funnel that is in the back of the vehicle that needs to be used with the anti siphon fuel flap. it is the only way to open that metal flap to add fuel or additives to your tank.

Yes, the flap must seal the hole or the Vapor system will generate an error code. The Flap may be damaged or the spring has broken or as you mentioned, if it's really cold, could be frozen open. if the flap is intact you can try spraying some wd-40 on its hinge. If its missing you need a filler neck for your fuel tank.

Well you have a few issues here. As for the drivers door not locking/unlocking the vehicle, it sounds like the linkage that comes off the back of the tumbler has broken off. You can tell if this has happened because of the locks and also you won't feel any resistance when you turn the key in the door. For the gas flap lock either there is a leak in the vacuum system for the locks or the gas flap lock is bad. To manually open the gas flap lock you need to go through the trunk and behind the trunk panel where the gas flap lock is there should be a lever to manually unlock it or you can remove the screws that hold in the lock.

Is the remote control for the locks just not working? If the doors are unlocked, the trunk and cas tank cover should be unlocked as well. I have a slightly later model, but that's how it works with mine. Are you saying that you can manually open the doors with the key, but when you do, it doesn't unlock the gas door like normal? If so ,there's a manual pull tab in the trunk to open the gas tank flap on the same side of the trunk as the gas tank flap. After it's open, you can of course close the gas lid flap again, but it won't lock again if the auto-locking system isn't working. You'll have to get the dealer to replace the motor if it's gone out. Inside the boot there is a liitle cord with a fuel symbol on it. pull this and the cap will open.

The fuel flap is a kind of square shape with curved edges, with the vehicle unlocked, push the edge nearest the front of the car inwards. This flips open the other end. With it open, lock and unlock the car with the remote key and check that a small metal rod comes out and in respectively. This, with the flap shut, will lock the flap with the car locked.
