I have an 1987 buick t- type regal need wiring diagram for ignition the recent owners put a 455 in wires under hood coming out of fire wall have been cut out. like to get a wiring diagram, to re-wire the ignition system

1. Connect the distributor's B+ (battery) terminal to a switched 12-volt source, such as the ignition switch.

2. Connect the distributor's tach terminal to the tachometer signal wire, if you have a tachometer.

3. Connect the distributor's ground wire to a good engine ground.

4. Connect the distributor's #1 spark plug wire to the #1 spark plug on the engine. The #1 spark plug is usually located on the driver's side front cylinder.

5. Connect the remaining spark plug wires in firing order sequence to the distributor cap terminals. The firing order for a Buick 455 engine is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.

6. Install the distributor cap and rotor.

Partial wiring diagrams are usually available, but if you want a full wiring schematic, you need a workshop manual or a subscription to a website.

Firing Order for a 1970-76 455 should be 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

I had the same problem with my 98 regal. I replaced a wiring harness on the steering column that has heavy gadge wires coming from the fire wall and going to a small black box directly below the ignition switch.Since I replaced it I have not had any problems

Look for a running light relay to be shorting out,it is under the hood,most likely near ,or on the fire wall under the cover.If not ,look behind the head lights.

Thick wires at IGN SW .... Red(s) - supply power from the battery to the IGN switch ... Pink - ignition supply ... Orange - Accessory power ... Purple most RWD sometimes (Yellow most FWD) - Starter .. Did I miss any? It's been a while The thin wires on the IGN swich are for key sense and VATS (if applicable)
