Check the plug is completely plugged into the motor. Maybe a bad connection in the motor itself. Also check the switch, try wiggling it when turning on.

Olds Silhouette Passenger Side wiper not working

Your wipers have a transmission of its own. It is located between the wiper motor and the wiper arms. the linkage to the right wiper arm has fallen off. More than likely you will need to replace the transmission. If the wiper motor is original, replace it at the same time. Sometimes you can buy the two together. Any other questions, feel free to write back, good luck.

Did you try bending the metal arm going to the wiper blade so there is enough pressure to make the blade contact the window better. I just did one two days ago and if im reading what what you are saying right its is the same problem and it fixed it

1998 Olds Silhouette: My driver's side power window goes up slowly but down ok. I suspect that the motor is weak and needs to be replaced. Is that doable from home?

I would suggest before thinking the motor is bad that the tracks that the window run in need a good cleaning.
I bought 97 Olds a couple of years ago and had the same problem - after cleaning the gunk - I figured it was a soft drink of some flavor got spilled in the door - and lubing the regulator gears and joints with pure silicone spray ( don't use any product like WD40 as they are oil based and will attract dust ) it worked like new. If you need to replace the motor YES it can be done at home but give yourself plenty of time, it can be done but you won't do it in an hour

2001 olds silhouette wiper motor, changed motor need to know how to time arm to motor.

unhook the motor from the body mount its on...holding it is your hand (without the wiper arm on it!) while u have someone turn the wipers on then "off"...shut off ignition...resinstall motor, then arm set about 1-3" from the stop on the wiper "galley" at the bottom of the windshield.

Replacing the rear wiper motor on a 2002 olds silhouette

I have the same issue, and just did it yesterday.

1. remove the rear hatch door handle with a T35 star screwdriver bit
2. gently pry the panel up exposing the two bottom plastic push fasteners
3. I used a flat prybar with the notch on the fastener and pryed both off
(the push fastener has 2 washers on the top end so get the pry bar under the top one)
4. Now pull the panel off the side door latches and gently pull down again to expose the two back push fasteners and pry them off too.

You now should be able to remove the motor. The wiring harness comes off easily after you figured out that the only the small end closest to the wires comes off, not the whole "box". Insert the small blade of a jacknife crosswise in the space on top of the connector and pry up the tab letting the fasterner slip off.

I found a motor on the net for about $80 (part number1880686) but it currently is out of stock so I have to wait a couple of weeks to finish. I put the panel back on without the push fasteners and will wait the 2 weeks. Buick dealer wanted $320.

Good Luck
