Where might the oil be leakin on my 02 ls

I just bought this lincoln ls 02 and there is no oil on the dipstick and you can see oil underneath on the bottom of the motor so i don't think it could be the valve cover gaskets although i will check those im just wondering if there is anywhere else it could be leaking to drain all the oil out like that and does anyone know if there is a saftey sensor on these cars that wont let the car run when it gets low enough on oil so people dont blow the motor? any help much appreciated.

ha well i found out where the oil is leakin it turns out whoever had the car before me blew a couple rods out the bottom of the oil pan i guess that would explain why all the oil drained out just sitting there. now i got a used motor and we got it all in now and we are running into other problems first we wernt getting any fuel to the fuel rails, got lucky and it was just a burnt out fuse and now we got pressure to the rails but it still wont start switched the little sensor on the air intake that didn't do it we dumped a little gas in the intake there by the throttle body or whatever and it fires up till that gas burns out and then....nothin so im thinkin the gas aint getting through the injectors for some reason i just dont know which reason it would more likely be if it would be the cam sensor or the pcm or a short in the wire to the injectors or a bad pressure regulator, im just wondering which would be the most common so i kinda know what to try first cause that cam sensor in the back there is going to be a pain to get back out now that we JUST put the damn motor and everything else back in.

Where on the ground, in relation to the engine, is the leak? front center, left rear, center rear, etc. there are a number of places oil can leak.

the only thing that will warn you that the oil is dangerously low is the light on the instrument cluster and the oil on the ground. if the vehicle is driven with this very low oil level, it wil loverheat and then the engine will stop. but by that time the damage would have been done. how much oil do you see on the ground at any one time? it is possible that either the oil filter or drain plug has become loosened.

How to check transmission fluid in a 2002 Lincoln LS 3.9v8

You can not check the transmission fluid as this car has no dipstick, The only to check the transmission fluid is to lift the car there is a plug underneath. The best thing to do is take it to a transmission shop and let them check it!!!!!

My 2003 Lincoln LS started smoking from underneath the hood and I think tailpipe. I opened hood and saw what looked to be oil everywhere. I put water in car and it still smoked. My engine temperature is ok...

A leak ! valve cover gasket , oil pan , timing cover , front or rear seal etc.... Your best bet , take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop.

What is the oil capacity for the V-8? Linoln LS 2004

Oil capacity of the 3.9L V8 engine is 6.5 L with filter change. Of course this is only approximate, as eng temp., and condition affect these things slightly. Always check the dipstick. good luck
