1996 Saab 900 SE is stalling and shuts off when I start to come to a stop. Engine light came on with an !. Couple times it would start and just die. had to hit the gas to keep it going. sometimes this worked and other times it didn't. There looks to be corrosion at the bottom of the battery. Terminal posts are clean and on tight. Any suggestions?

Just had to replace the fuel pump on my 1999 Saab 9-3 with 130 K after being frustrated with stalling over the past 6 months. Earlier attempts to fix the problem were to replace the crank sensor and purge valve but that was just a waste of $600.
It's always something with this car unfortunatley!

My 1999 saab 9-5 se (2.3 turbo) cuts off when I turn the ac or heat on. It stalls at traffic lights, stop signs etc, but does fine on the open road.

Have the altenator checked out. when you turn these on it puts an extra load on the altenator. Could be loosing voltage or amperage, And the ECM could be shutting you down because of this drop.

96 900 SE turbo, brake light and tail light failure on SID. go to put car in reverse and car stalls, Note, License plate bulbs are out as well as 1 of the rear fog light bulbs, don't know if that would...

1996 SAAB 900 SE Brakelight Failure SID info
- stalls in reverse etc.

The problem lies with the grounding point in the left rear body cavity on the floor, see the diagram.
Rust eventually destorys the ground and the car will not run in reverse nor do the backup lignts or the rear hatch defroster work amongst other things
Re-attach the grounding wire to an existing welded stud on the side body panel and the problem is solved.

1995 Saab 900 Same problem with stalls dies no warning

It appears to me to be more of a loose or damaged battery or ground connection, either on the battery, the starter, or a power wire somewhere. Next time you have dim lights, get under the hood and wiggle wires around, to see if you can get them to brighten up. When you do hit the right wire, you'll find the problem.

Stalling/possible overheating in engine, but not registering on the temp gauge

If it is a turbo, check the Turbo BypassValve. Also check all vacuum hoses, after 100 Kmiles replace them all.
