This is the reversing light switch. For $18 it is worth swapping out for a new one, but my feeling is that is something inside the transmission that is not in the right place that actuates it. Hopefully, you might even find it has come loose.
You'll need to find out what code the computer sends to repair the system first. A diagnostic meter will tell you that. Once the system is repaired, the same meter will reset the light.
Not sure on the Almera, but some vehicles need the light to be re-set with a scanner, it has stored the radiator fault in it's memory, trip to a garage I'm afraid.
