THE FIRING ORDER IS AS FOLLOWS : 1-6-5-4-3-2.
CYLINDER NUMBERS (front-to-rear) :
LEFT (driver side) 1-3-5
RIGHT (passenger side) 2-4-6

To set ignition timing, ensure that engine is at operating temperature, (190 degrees or above), bypass EST (electronic spark timing) by unplugging the single tan wire with a black stripe from the distributor. Ignition timing should be set at 0 degrees or TDC (top dead center). If not, loosen distributor hold down bolt and adjust, then retighten.

4.3L V6 1-6-5-4-3-2. distributor rotates clockwise, with number 1 cylinder on cap at front of distributor (side toward front of engine)

SOURCE: need firing order and distributor

1-6-5-4-3-2
number 1 is the front Cyl on drivers side.
then it is #3 #5
Passenger side is #2 #4 #6
#1 on distributor cap is the front side of cap next
to the hold down screw clockwise side of the screw.
Firing order goes clockwise looking down on the distribuater.

Did it backfire beofre you did the service? I'm guessing you have the wires mixed up.

Firing order 1-6-5-4-3-2, Distributor rotates clockwise

I need the firing order for a 87 chevy astro v6. If I could find a diagram that would be even better.

Good day
the firing order is 1-6-5-4-3-2
cyl are set up as follows

2 4 6
<---- front of engine
1 3 5

ditributor is 1,2,3,4,5,6 in counter clock way
number 1 should be pointing at the number 3 cylinder,
the rotor in the distributor goes clock ways as the firing order.
