Okay guy so lifters have springs inside and they keep tension on the push rods on older engine and oil has a lot to do with it if your lifters are really bad and making weird noises if you really need to quiet you need to put a much thicker motor oil in the car that will help to quiet the lifters for now and hopefully make them work a little better for now otherwise otherwise and remove the heads and replace the lifters they are cheap
but keep in mind if your hearing a real strong knocking the push are most likely the problem and are bent does the exhaust blow smoke or does the vehicle run funny?
No it will not. Only a comparable engine from another mazda b2200 truck and I think the b2000 and possibly Miata, 2.2 engines were about the same from 1986-1993. You can pretty much count out just dropping in a motor from a different manufacturer for any make. Fords don't fit chevys, etc. etc., This would require you modify the entire drive train and quite possibly the electrical system, cooling system, etc. Definitely not worth the hassle involved.
YOU HEAR VALVE LIFTERS.MOST TIME YOU HEAR VALVE LIFTER NOISE.LIFTERS ARE WORN OUT OR OIL + FILTER COULD NEED CHANGING.BECAUSE DIRTY OIL WILL STOP UP LIFTERS CAUSE THEM BE NOISEY.YOU CAN ADD BOTTLE OF MARVEL MYSTERY OIL IT WILL HELP QUIET DOWN NOISEY LIFTERS.
hello there: you may need to have the pick up coil tested if there is no power coming out of the distributor this will more than likely be the problem hope this helps you out sincerely D.Jones
i understand the problem chad skeet69 is having w/his 1988 mazda b2200. why would you lower a b2200? doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of hauling water with it? one way to fix your problem is to move. get expert help from a certified mechanic. it was fun talking to you in emails but i'm not interested in those kind of activities.
yes, i believe you could put any engine on your pick-up provided it is the rear wheel type set-up and the engine comes with its own tranny. problem is, if changing the engine mounts, tranny mounts, wiring set-up and exhaust system layout would not be of any problem to you. might as well look for the same mazda engine you have as a replacement to ease installation.
