This is the switch atatched to the side of the transmission which tells the computer what range you are in when you select from the inside on the shifter. This should also tell the computer when you are in park or nuetral allowing the vehicle to be started. This is also know as you transmission range selector switch and can be called the inhibitor or nuetral saftey switch.

You're in the TDI (diesel) solutions section so it uses glow plugs.
If it's a petrol engine 2.0L then it would be accessible above and below intake manifold using a swivel spark plug deep socket.

Are you sure it's the switch itself that's gone bad? Does it work on certain speeds and not others? It's more common for the resistor pack which controls your fan speeds to go bad. It's located under the glovebox.

#1 Do you have an faults recorded in the ECM like a check engine.
#2 Are you using synthetic oil 5W40 preferably Castrol?
#3 How old is your fuel filter?
