This is a common problem that will cause check engine lights and misfires. He's probably right. Just have him show you proof of the crack before you pay for a new intake. There's been some times where all you need is just a gasket.

Blown head gasket and/or cracked head, cracked or leaking intake manifold. Since the car has run hot, the headgasket is probably damaged either way. On a 4 cylinder engine you are looking at $900 to 1200 range...v6 add another $3 to 400. Possibly more depending on what caused the failure in the first place.

Saturn sl2 2002 code P0301
Have you checked your spark plugs yet? This is a Cylinder 1 misfire. Most likely just plugs and wires but these also had an issue with the intake gasket leaking air and causing a misfire code. Spray carb cleaner or brake cleaner along the intake manifold where it touches the cylinder head and see if the engine almost dies while running, if so then you know yo have a leaking intake gasket.

2002 auto saturn sl1 revs a little high, and shifts a little hard when going between gears?
I just went through the same thing and checked the air idle control valve, and the throttle position sensor. . took it off and cleaned it. I took off the throttle body and cleaned it. Listened for vacuum leaks. Then after the same problem persisted, I sprayed brake cleaner directly on the intake manifold gasket between cylinders 1 and 2 and just like that, the RPM"S went down. I need a new intake manifold gasket.

Coolant surge tank on my 93 saturn SL2 has a pine hole leak on the inside seam which is leaking out coolant and causing overheating. It is a plastic tank. Is the tank by itself replaceable? I have sealed...
The tank should be easily available at any auto wrecking/used auto parts locations.
Otherwise,do you have a soldering gun or soldering iron?
Clean off the epoxy and plastic weld the tank with your soldering gun.Just melt the plastic back together carefully.
Other plastic can be added into the weld if needed.

Coolant leaking in and around the intake manifold as well as the under carriage of that same part I think. Outake? I know that the part that attaches to the manifold appears to be metal but the manifold...
The plastic piece is the upper intake manifold. The metal part is the lower intake manifold. Sometimes the gaskets go bad between the upper and lower intake manifolds. But usually the upper intake manifold is cracked and needs replaced.

i believe it is an intake leak which is very common on the saturn s series cars. the fix is replacing the intake manifold gasket-book time is about 3.5-4 hours so unless you know what youre doin i suggest takin it to a mechanic.

Saturn Sl rpm at 2000
Have a mechanic look at it for leaks between the intake manifold and the head. Have them run an OBD 2 scanner and check for cylanders misfiring. Probably a bad intake manifold gasket or other broken or cracked hoses/fittings connected to the intake.

I have a 98 lincoln town car executive and I need to know how you change the thermostat
1. drain coolant
2. remove engine cover
3. remove the 2 bolts from water hose connection (upper rad hose connecting to)
4. remove o-ring and thermostat
5. repeat in reverse order
