You have to check if you really glows comes to power that can show you the light on the dash that are working and maybe the relay of the glows does not work and you will pass voltage. Try a thick cable you put something in the battery positive and the other end touch the tip of the glow should produce a spark pquena holds about 20 or 25 seconds and give him star should work well. Thanks

Why does my rodeo diesel 2.8l 99 model when cold starts at accessories point & glow plug light stays on longer?

sounds as though the cylinder,s etc are a bit clogged up, try some diesel fuel addative,as with all diesel engines if they do not get long and regular journeys the glow plugs, injectors etc get clogged ,as the engine does not get hot enough to burn these deposits off on short stop start types of journey's . you are possibly looking at replacing the glow plugs but give the addative a try and if possible take for a long drive 2-3 hours at steady highish speed , ok to repeat the addative and long drive once more ,if no improvement will need to go into the repair shop to have the glow plugs seen to at the very least , good luck

Glow plug for diesels

year model? Engine size? I need a little more information than ford won't start when cold. I would guess either the glow plug relay or the actual glow plugs themselves are bad, but usually the glow plug relay, because if it were just one or two glow plugs it would start, but run like ****.

F250 Diesel will not start cold . Has power to glow plugs for short time ,but will not start 1986 modle.

Hello philkatkiele: My name is Roger and I will help you. First thing you need to check is the glow plugs. They will need tested individually. Un plug all 8 glow plugs. Take a test light and hook end to the positive battery cable. Touch opposite end of test light to the terminal end of the glow plug. The test light should light. Touch all 8 glow plugs. Ant that do not light are bad and will need replaced. If glow plugs are burnt out then the controller will flash wait light to early or very fast. The wait light should be on for approximately 10 seconds. If al glow plugs check ok then I would suspect the glow plug controller as the problem. Also if the temperature out side is below 40 degrees the truck should be plugged in. This will help to make the engine start easier. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer as this way I know it was helpful. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

Will not start in cold weather. Starts great if temperature is above 20 degrees. New battery and no problem found by mechanic.

There is a 5th injector called the cold start injector, that is electrically controlled off the starter. You can easily unscrew it while still attached to hoses and wires, and watch it squirt. You can also verify it is getting voltage with a test light or meter. There is also a thermal timer for it that could be bad and preventing current from the starter.
