Replace the coil

  • toneman2121
    toneman2121 Feb 26, 2010

    no, it's totally different.

the coil packs are located at the front corners of the engine one on each side and supply high volts to the plugs. there are four spark plug wires and one input connector for each. four bolts hold it secure. easy to replace. about $50. plugs and wire replacement strongly recommended. remove negative battery cable before relplacing.

2004 caravan 3.3 OBD code P2308 ignition coil "C" secondary circuit ? No spark to cylinder 6 & 3 ? plugs & wires good & new coil pack ??

This code could also mean the transistor inside the engine computer is fried . New PCM/ECM needed .

P2308 Dodge Description The current flow, or dwell, through the primary ignition coil is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) by providing a switched ground path through the ignition coil driver to ground. When the ignition coil driver is switched on, current rapidly builds up to a maximum value, determined by the coil inductance and resistance. When the current is switched off, the magnetic field collapses which induces a secondary high voltage surge and the spark plug is fired. This high voltage surge creates a flyback voltage which the PCM uses as a feedback during the ignition diagnostics. The PCM continuously monitors the ignition system for concerns. The P2308 code sets when the PCM detects a short to voltage in the circuit.

P0350 - Ignition Coil Primary/Secondary Circuit Description: Each ignition primary circuit is continuously monitored. The test fails when the powertrain control module (PCM) does not receive a valid ignition diagnostic monitor (IDM) pulse signal from the ignition module (integrated in the PCM). Possible Causes:
  • Open or short in the Ignition START/RUN circuit
  • Open coil driver circuit
  • Coil driver circuit shorted to ground
  • Damaged coil
  • Coil driver circuit shorted to VPWR
Diagnostic Aids: Use the 12-volt non-powered test lamp to verify START/RUN voltage at the ignition coil harness connector.
Check the coil driver circuit for open, short to VPWR, or short to ground. Application Key On Engine Off Key On Engine Running Continuous Memory Coil pack ignition testing GO to Pinpoint Test JC . Coil-on-plug (COP) ignition testing GO to Pinpoint Test JB . Without me testing , it's hard to say what you got going on ! Coil packs ? What engine does it have ? 5.4 L ? should have coil on plug ignition .

I have a 1998 grand marquis LS,4.6 engine. both coil packs have no fire, and the fuel pump isn't working. i changed the ecm, still no fire or fuel.can it be the main brain computer?

I looked up info for your vehicle, it shows coil on plug ignition, no coil pack, Is that correct?

The ecm or pcm is the computer. Am I misunderstanding your post?

What color are the wires from the ECM to the coil pack and which one are the driver for coil b

The power scorce isn't the ECM .Test another coil for 12 volts key on run the configuration of the wires in side the connecters will be the same .Then see what is hot in coil B connector if you have the same voltage and tests the same then the coil pack is likely the problem but test the grounds on B and check the main wire OHMS before you start spending money

Where is the ecm on a 1994 gmc sonoma

If it's a 2.2, its on the passengers side, mounted to the engine block just above the motor mount. It sits under the coil packs. If you meant PCM, its inside the truck passenger side, behind the glove box.

I have a 1990 buick lasabre and not getting any fire to my spark plugs. there is no fire to the plug wires at the coil pack. i've got a knew coil pack, module, and crank shaft sensor and still no fire. can...

If those three items are replaced and it still doesn't fire up, look for a possible computer problem.
Or, look for a broken wire or fuse for the ignition system.

Good luck on this repair.

2005 aveo got code on transmishion p 0300 p 0700 and p1781

It sounds like you have a problem with your crank sensor or cam sensor!! You will have to take to a dealer that knows how to learn the crank sensore.. Yes it has to be learned into the computer.

Also there was a sevice bulletn on mising being that the intake valves needed to be replaced and reseated.

The transmission code is being sent because of the randome missing.. so it will not upshift into I think 4th (lockup). and the other is sent to torque because of the random miss also..

Solution!!!!!!! take to dealer and have them relearn crank sensor!!!

Hope this helps
