I assume you have no check engine light, or service engine soon light on.
Start with the fuel filter that should be replaced every 30,000 miles.
The filter is located under the vehicle between the the fuel tank and engine.

My 2001 alero shakes at stop lights dies from time to time and when the light turns green it looses powers sort of like a drag

  • Sounds like you have some really fouled plugs. I would start with a tune up or plugs and wire at least. When your plugs, or even one plug, get fouled it creates a misfire and when at a stop light etc the cars will shake a bit and almost feel like it wants to **** a bit. Then when taking off it putters and lacks proper accelerations abilities.

  • Also make sure to use good gas as bad gas will cause some sluggishness too.

  • Hope this helps.

2001 Alero was running fine stopped at a light and went to accelerate car started shaking bad, would not accelerate more than 2 mph it seemed. Then Trac Off light came on followed by flasing service engine...

Start the car and have some stand behind the vehicle while it is running in park and rev the engine to see if exhaust gases are coming out, if not sounds like the cat converter is clogged.

While the 2001 alero 2.4 idles it has a slight hiccup or miss. a new ignition module and coils have been installed along with fuel filter and pump. acceleration is fine but occasionally will skip

You did not mention the ignition coil housing cover these are famous for carbon tracking resulting in miss. Even close inspection usually does not reveal the issue I would replace it.

My 2001 oldsmobile alero starts, but when I go to take off it seems as it is not getting fuel, it drives very rough and is slow to accelerate. The fuel filter has been changed. Hooked up to a computer...

probably dirty injectors, most likely fuel pump.when the fuel pressure is low,it will idle fine but when you want to accelerate it will not get enough fuel
