Hi:
The only red warning light that is in the center of the dash is either the brake warning light or possibly the low tire pressure light?

Where is ABS light located. How do I know if my 1996 has ABS brakes

Possible but not likely in the 96 model. The owners manual would tell you. The ABS warning light is on the dash board cluster and is normally an ABS inside a circle. ABS didn't become real popular until the 2000 year model when FORD and Mercury made that essentially a standard for all models.
