When replacing gaskets on an Intake/Plenum should I use RTV or just compress the Felpro Gaskets on an 1997 Lincoln Cotinental 4.6L. and should I replace and RTV the EGR. I had done the gaskets allready but I'm still getting lean codes. Sometimes when accelerating and once on deceleration. I was told that it was the uppper and lower gaskets, PCV tubing and a front flex pipe from the Ford dealership.

PO-133 HO2S Sensor Circuit Slow Response

Before you change an O2 Sensor, clean the MAF Sensor, with CRC MAF Cleaner (auto parts store)
Check the air filter cover and all the intake ducting. You can not have any vacuum leaks.
I would bet that the PCV Hose ,you say was replaced ,is not on correctly, and is sucking in air, and maybe leaning out your O2 readings.
I hope that the intake gasket r&r was done correctly also. I wouldn't rule that out as a leak, also.

The COP Ignition Coils, are not an issue. They fail all the time on all fords from 1998 on,that use that type coil.
Brakes are just standard maintainance. Take them apart, twice a year, clean off rust, smooth out rotor ridges and lube pad ends and mounting bracket slippers.
The wheel bearings should not have failed, nor the pcv hose

It would seem to me,someone is pitching you repairs. Two wheel bearings don't fail.
You need to go to a local shop,if this work was done at a dealer.
Stand INSIDE the service bay, next to your vehicle, and have the person actually going to work on your car,SHOW YOU and PROVE TO YOU,that you have a problem next time.

I have a 2004LS,and there are a shopping list of problems. But not the ones you have.

Lower Intake:

  2. Hand tighten the 13mm head intake bolts and Torque the bolts , starting from the center and working your way out in a circular pattern
  3. Torque these bolts in a few small increments until they have reached 250 inch pounds of torque.
  4. Upper Intake Plenum:
  5. When installing the intake air plenum , be sure to catch the four center bolts and the two side bolts (stiffener brackets) before tightening , The center bolts should be torqued to 250 inch pounds .The fuel rail bolts should be torqued to 100 inch pounds

Have a 4.3 chevy took intake off getting water in oil already has a good metal felpro gasket how can I test head gasket with manifold off

a compression test will do the job
test the cooling system with a radiator pressure tester
personally I do not believe in metal head gaskets unless the head has been machined and the block surface properly cleaned
there is no room for error
head stud holes are to be cleaned out properly or the proper stretch for the studs is not achieved

How to replace a intake plenum gasket

Well basically, you remove the intake plenum and replace the gasket and reinstall the plenum. Here are the steps:

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the remote jumper terminal located at the right strut tower.
2. Remove the air inlet resonator and tube.
3. Remove the throttle actuator cables from the throttle arm and bracket.
4. Disconnect Secondary Runner Valve (SRV), Manifold Tuning Valve (MTV), Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), Idle Air Control (IAC) motor electrical connectors.
5. Remove the electrical connector and the Intake Air Temperature/Manifold Absolute Pressure (TMAP) sensor.
6. Disconnect vacuum hoses from the Secondary Runner Valve (SRV) reservoir, Speed Control reservoir, and PCV.
7. Remove right and left intake manifold supports.
8. Remove support brackets at the intake manifold front corners and MTV.
9. Loosen upper fastener attaching throttle body to support bracket.
10. Remove clips attaching EGR tubes to intake manifold.
11. Remove intake manifold bolts and manifold
12. Remove old gaskets, Clean gasket surfaces, and install new gaskets.
13. Reverse steps to reinstall manifold

Intake manafold gasket

If you are just talking about the cost of the gaskets there is kind of an upper (plenum) and a lower intake set. If you just need the plenum gasket they are only about 30 dollars. If you need the entire set there are a couple of option. Just a regular set runs you about 70 (that's both the upper plenum and lower intake manifold but FelPro puts out a great gasket set called "permadry" and the runs about 165 dollars. If you were looking for labor cost it depends on the hourly labor rate of the shop you are using. The labor guide says that if you are replacing both upper & lower it shows 3.4 hours in labor. If it's just the plenum it says 2 hours of labor. Hope this is what you are looking for and by the way I am going by the most common engine found for the Windstar for that year and that engine is a 3.8 liter. If you happen to have the 3.0 the prices and labor hours may be different.

How do i get water out of intakemanifold

If it is the result of blown head gaskets, you will need to remove the intake manifold, since you will need to remove it any way to replace the head gaskets, while you have the intake off just pour the water out.
then you may want to blow the moisture out with compressed air
hope this helps

I know my intake gaskets are leaking on my 97 lumina 3.1 , but I'am not sure the head gaskets are bad, could coolant get in the cylinders from this? I was going to pressure test the cooling system over...

BETTER OFF DOING HEADGASKETS IF YOU ARE GOING TO DO INTAKE GASKETS BECAUSE YOU WILL BE 3/4 OF THE WAY TO HEAD GASKETS. INTAKE GASKETS ARE COMMON, AND SO ARE HEADGASKETS.

Oil rusty color andsometimes stalling like it doesnt want to pick up speed

If it is a 3.1 V6 then most likley it is an intake gasket leak. Get it fixed before you damage the engine. Good Luck.

Valve covers gasket leak oil

To replace the valve cover gaskets on a Sienna: The front one is easy. The difficult one is the other side, closest to the firewall. You will need to purchase a new intake plenum gasket, when you buy the new valve cover gaskets, because you MUST remove the intake plenum to remove the rear valve cover. You can NOT get the back side valve cover off of the engine without removing the plenum. Trust me.
Hope this helps, and thanks for choosing FixYa.
