If the alarm system has a battery remove it otherwise removing the car battery for a while may reset it. In emergency contact your local toyota dealers mechanics department and they may be able to help you at no cost.

Airbag light on, cruise does not work

Hello. Welcome to FIxYa. My name is Toyota Ed, and I would like to assist you.

What you have is a broken 'spiral cable" (more commonly known as the 'clockspring'. This device transfers all of the steering wheel electrical functions to the steering column wiring harness.

To replace the spiral cable, you will need to remove the horn pad/air bag, and pull the steering wheel from the steering column. Note: You will be removing the air bag from the steering wheel. This requires some familiarity with the air-bag system and specific precautions, to remove it safely.

If you do not have the correct experience and tools to perform this task, I would suggest that you take it to a professional.

1999 toyota avalon horn works intermitely

I would suggest to you to have the spiral cable (or 'clockspring') replaced. This is the electrical unit that transfers power to the air bag, the horn and the cruise control.

It is located right under the seering wheel.

Your description of the issue indicates to me that your spiral cable is loose, and making intermittant contact. If the vehicle had an air-bag deployment, this cable-device should have been changed.

Airbag light stays on or fluctuates. Possible causes?

A component of the airbag system is failing. If you are steering when it flashes it could be the clock spring in the steering wheel. When this light is on you will not have airbags in an accident. only a scanner can pull this info.

Carmy horm will not work year 1996

You have a damaged Spiral Cable, or, as more commonly referred as a "Clockspring". This is the wiring that connects the steering column to the steering wheel. Inside the housing for the Clockspring is a flat wire harness that connects the vehicle harness to the variuous controls on the steering wheel...the horn, the air bag, the cruise switch, etc etc. What you need to do is go to a Toyota dealership parts department, and purchase a Spiral Cable assembly. Pull the steering wheel, and you will see it. Remove the 4 screws, and pull the Cable unit, and unplug it. Fit the new Cable assembly, and refit the screws; plug it all back together. Just remember to keep the steering wheel CENTERED...the replacement Cable assembly comes in teh "Centered" position. Do not rotate it left or right, or you will lose the centering of the cable..This will break the wire..

My 99 Toyota Avalon horn does not make any sound.

save yourself the hassle , buy yourself a momentary 12volt switch drill a nice clean hole on your driversside dash and re-wire your horn to it, all the screwing around you'll do to figure out why toyota makes cheesy horn contacts you could have your problem fixed..

on one side of the switch you should run a wire that is a 12volt switched +
on the other side I would run another side run a new power wire to your horn
leave your horns stock ground and just replace the HOTLINE ..

you could even go as far as installing a la cou ca racha horn to bring back that 70's Lowrider feel lol
