  • Anonymous Feb 02, 2013

I have a 1999 crown victoria to which this problem also just happened. I was wondering what it could be, thats why im looking here. If it helps any of the ones that are posting solutions right when it happened i heard a click under the top of the dashbord, on the left side, like right above where the gas gauge is. im pretty sure the mercury ans my ford are very much the same in a lot of respects. just wonderinfg also where i should start.

I would suggest you remove the dash light dimmer control rheostat (In most cases part of the main headlight switch) and test it for continuity, I think it may be defective, please perform the testing before replacing any parts.

I'm resorring my first car 87' camaro none of the gauge work ex. the speed. No gas, no temp or oil replaced sending units they work now but they not cheap.
