I have a jaguar x-type 2.0D 2004 although i have had a diagnostic and the part replaced and the code cancelled the engine management light is still on what can i do ? it's annoying!
Had same problem, and a no cruise message.ten minutes later no cruise message disappeared and cruise worked ok.When i got home was told to turn ignition on and off 5 or 6 times fast and you should hear a bell warning sound and management light was off.only had it reset the previous week due to o2 sensors so was a bit peeved, but the ignition trick did the job.
I HAVE A JAG XTYPE 2.0 V6 SPORT, HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT CAME ON AFTER A HARSH GEAR CHANGE (WHEN THE CLUTCH IS NOT FULLY PRESSED), HAD THE FAULT READ AND WAS ADVISED THE GEAR SENSOR HAD TRIGGERED AS THERE WAS A HARSH GEAR CHANGE, HAD THE CODES ALL READ AND CLEARED NOW THE LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITANTLY, AND GOES AWAY AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS, I BELIEVE THIS A COMMON FAULT WITH JAGS SADLY THE ONLY THING YOU CAN DO IS EITHER LIVE WITH IT OR REMOVE THE BULB FROM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL.
Take it to someone who knows what they're doing, like a auto electrician and give a kid a job!
Whenever
this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating
that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of
lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected
a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM,
SRS and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must
now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and
"scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the
problem(s)

Hello
When the service engine
soon light (Also called the check engine light or engine management
light) is turned on this is to alert you to the fact that Powertrain
Control Module (computer) has detected a failure somewhere in the
systems it controls you may not feel any difference in the way the
engine runs, this can be the transmission or the engine or emission
system, there are fault codes set in the modules memory for these
faults. What needs to happen now is to have the powertrain control
module scanned with a special tool called an OBD2 electronic engine
control scanner or a OBD2 code reader. Once the code(s) are read then
you must perform the diagnostics for each code and make the
appropriate repairs based on the findings of the diagnosis that was
performed, this is called doing "Pinpoint" testing.
