Oct 8, 2019 - Fuse Box Diagram Dodge Caravan, Chrysler Town & Country and Plymouth Voyager - Gasoline: 2.0 L (A588 or ECC), 2.4 L (EDZ), 3.0 L (6G72), ...
Have to check the unit model in each vehicle The 1991 is an OBD1 & the 1997 is OBD2 --so it won't work if it does match up mechanically Do yourself a big favor & get rid of any chry van I once owned a tran shop & 50% of my work was from 1990's caravans, bad unit, don't last
Not shifting? or is the tranny dust? Is this mechanical (in the linkage) or does the transmission "spin" when put into Drive?
The Voyager is infamous for it's bad transmissions.. Craigslist is "littered" with Caravans and Voyagers that need transmissions.. The replacement can cost as much as $2600.. and finding a used one is not always easy.. the cheapest and best way to replace it is get a rebuilt one.. and do it yourself.. it is time consuming yet fairly simple on the 3.0 engine. The hardest part is seperating the struts.. this might be a two man job.. BTW.. don't let the torque converter fall out of the transmission.. get a book if you attempt this repair at home.. jack he van up as high as you can.. the engine is easily supported with a couple of 2x4 cut to fit..
80 percent of the time the transmission problem is electrical. Pull the transmission dip stick and check the condition of the transmission fluid. If it's not burn and the transmission runs with out slipping but does not shift properly. Good chances are that it may be the Transmission control module (TCM) which is on the passenger side fender close to the headlight.
Check the condition of the wire harness to the TCM, look for corrosion and try disconnection the TCM and see if there is any changes to the way the transmission performs.
As for the transmission fitting, as long as the engine size are the same. the 3 liter and 3.3 liter use different transmission.
Good luck and hope this helps.
