It is most likely it is the hood switch. A vibration in the earth would vibrate the vehicle just a bit to make the hood pin not make enough contact. The pin itself would make a indentation on the rubber bump on the hood. This makes the pin not press down enough to make contact and thus made it go off.
One other possibility besides the hood pin problem is when the siren assemblygoes bad. This problem surfaces when driving down the road or just sitting in front of your house. It's an internal short in the siren assembly.
On the 07 Santa Fe, there has to be hood closed switches. There are two of them-one on either side. Its a small switch surrounded by a rubber ring. When the hood is closed, it's supposed to depress the switch enough to give a "closed" signal. The problem is that they aren't flush. Some people have glued extra rubber pieces to the top of the switches to make sure they get the closed signal.
Another method that works for some people is this:
1. Arm the alarm.
2. Wait for the 30 sec's for it to sound.
3. Disarm the alarm.
4. Arm the alarm.
5. All is well at this point with the alarm.
This is a commonly reported problem with Santa Fe.

How much did that dimple wiring fix cost? Would it be better to get a new alarm (and upgrade to a remote start)?
SOURCE: theft alarm problem
When i called our dealer about the problem with the theft alarm in our 2007 Santa Fe going off for no reason (usually in the middle of the night), the dealer sounded not at all surprised and commented "oh, it just requires a simple wiring fix". I brought it in and the did their fix, and have had no problems since (a month and counting).

There is no hood switch on our vehicle.
Would like another possible cause to alarm going off. Is there a way to reset it?
