Remove Transmission Fluid Level Check
Locate and remove the transmission fluid level checker, in most cars and trucks this is where the fluid is checked and added.
1687565.jpg
Insert fluid funnel and add transmission fluid until the proper amount of fluid level is reached. Let engine warm and recheck fluid level, add fluid as needed. Do not over fill the transmission, it could foam the fluid and cause low fluid pressure causing premature transmission failure. recheck transmission for leaks and recheck fluid level in a couple of days.

DIAGNOSIS AND TEST FLUID LEVEL AND CONDITION
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface. 2. Before removing the dipstick, wipe all dirt from the area around the dipstick. 3. With the selector lever in "P" (Park) and the parking brake applied, start the engine. 4. The engine should be running at idle speed and the fluid should be at normal operating temperature [80-90°C (176-194°F)]. 5. Move the selector lever to every position to fill the torque converter and hydraulic circuit with fluid, then place the lever in the "N" (Neutral) position. This operation checks that fluid level check is accurate. 6. Check if the fluid level is in the "HOT" range shown on the dipstick. If the fluid is low, add automatic transaxle fluid until the level reaches the "HOT" range.

SOURCE: 2000 Hyundai elantra transmission delay, reverse going

Did you check the transmission fluid level? If necessary, add fluid. However you probably have a more serious problem. Take the car to a qualified transmission mechanic.

Unfortunately I believe it is beyond a simple Fluid and Filter change. Once the Fluid is Burned and you get fault codes your going to have to have the transmission rebuilt.

When does the transmission filter and oil need to be changed on a 1997 hyundai elantra?

You should change the transmission fluid and filter every 15,000 to 30,000 miles or every two years.

I just want to know where the transmission filter is on a 2005 Hyundai Elantra and how often the filter and fluid need changing?

Most Japanese/Korean made cars actually have no transmission filter...such as hyundai, toyota, honda. Fluid changes should be listed in your owners manual...I think its between 60,000-80,000kms...but I changed mine earlier in my elantra and added in some Lucas for trannys since I noticed mine shifting hard between second and third...cleared it up.

Tranny slips and window problem... electrical problem..related??

I think the first place you should start is by changing the fuel filter. If your fuel filter is partly plugged, it can make you think it's the transmission, when, in fact, it's actually the engine starving for fuel. It could also be your speed sensor, if the fuel filter doesn't make a difference. Good luck!
