Yes. there are tension bolts that you have to loosen
look at each pully closely and look for a long bolt that goes to it.you will have to loosen the nut that goes to either the pulley or that goes right in front of the long bolt.some of these are reverse threads

What are reasons why alternator belt keeps snapping for a 1999 mitsubishi mirage?

Bad alternator bearing is one possibility. Remove belt and spin everything it drives to find binding part. Other possible is poor alignment of driven parts.

How to replace the power steering belt on a 4g13

ADJUSTMENT

Excessive belt tension will cause damage to the alternator and water pump pulley bearings, while, on the other hand, loose belt tension will produce slip and premature wear on the belt. Therefore, be sure to adjust the belt tension to the proper level.
To adjust the tension on a drive belt, loosen the adjusting bolt or fixing bolt locknut on the alternator, alternator bracket or tension pulley. Then move the alternator or turn the adjusting bolt to adjust belt tension. Once the desired value is reached, secure the bolt or locknut and recheck tension.

Looking to replace the alternator belt on my 2000 mitsu mirage.....there is no belt on the alternator, guess i lost it somehere on the way home, car ran for a bit, then conked out.....any advice or tips on...

I would replace the steering pump belt at the same time you do the alternator belt (buy both).
To take off the alternator belt .
First , take off the negative battery cable so you do not blow an expensive fuse on the positive battery cable clamp(or a block fuse under the hood). Facing the back of the car , reach UNDER the alternator and loosen the bolt on the bottom right side, now loosen the bolt on the adjuster block on top, you can now turn the adjuster bolt and move the alternator to change the belt.
To take off the steering pump belt on the front of the motor, you need to loosen the nut on the back side of the pulley it holds the adjuster pulley in place . With the adjuster pulley loose , you can use the adjuster bolt to move the pulley to adjust/take off the steering pump belt.

I want to change two belts (A/C and Alternator) on my 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage 1.5 car. What steps I am suppose to do.

First, feel the tightness of your belts. You will have to tighten the new belts to the proper tightness. If they are too tight, they will wear the bearings prematurely. If they are too loose, they will slip.

Alternator Belt Removal

How do i change belt on mitubishi mirage 98

( BEFORE ADJUSTING THE ALTERNATOR BELT DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE OR YOU MIGHT BLOW AN EXPENSIVE HIDDEN FUSE)to change the alternator belt, you have to loosen the lower mount bolt on the alternator, loosen block shaped bolt that the long adjuster bolt goes through, and loosen the belt by turning the long adjuster bolt, take off the belt. to adjust the power steering belt, there is a long adjuster bolt that moves a tensioner pulley, first you have to loosen the nut that holds the pulley in place , now the pulley can be moved with the adjuster bolt.

I need to replace the alternator belt on a 2000 mitsubishi mirage i would like a diagram please

If you have limited / no mechanical knowledge leave this to an Auto Technician.

This a relatively easy job.

Undo the alterantor lock nut (12mm ring spanner / socket wrench)
Undo the alternator adjustment bolt almost fully (Either 10mm / 12mm wrench)

Get under the car and loosen the main alterantor bolt using a 14mm wrench. Just loosen enough to move alternator, it is not to be removed.

Pull alterantor forward to slacken belt / remove belt.

Replacement is the opp of the above.

Ensure the MAX. deflection at the middle of the belt is only 12mm (1/2") after all redfitting is done.

Failure to have it this tight will wear it out very quickly!!
