Ya its a problem, pump is probly outa fluid. and it will probly get worst if its still hooked up 2 the main drive belts. it if isnt hooked up "pump still turning" itll be alrite. but probly most likely hav2 get it changed if it aint holding fluid. it may not be the pump but a pressure hose or steering box. that is the problem

If your power steering isn't working, it may be a few different things...Some more severe than others. Check to see if there is any fluid left in the pump resevoir. If not, put fluid in it and start the engine. Next, find where the fluid is dripping. It could be something as simple as a leaky hydraulic line or it could mean having to replace the power steering pump and/or the rack and pinion unit.

I hope this helps to guide you in the right direction! Let me know if I can be of further assistance. :)

Power steering pump

It's most likely low on fluid or the pump is going bad. If for some reason your power steering has a separate belt try tightening it first.

I WAS DRIVING AND THE STERING WENT OUT IS THIS MAJOR

Yes, I would say if the power steering doesn't work properly, it's a major problem. Determine if it's the rack and pinion or steering gear or the pump. Check the power steering pump's level of power steering fluid and the belt tension.

Power steering does not work turning right. what

Hi Ben,

Air in the line. Be sure the steering fluid level is up to the fill line.

Turn the wheel to the stops both ways a couple times.

Check the level again.

Repeat until the level remains static,

Best regards

Where is the power steering located at?

Hi:
Your power steering system has a couple major parts:
1) The power steering pump is mounted to the engine, and is driven by the serpentine belt. It also has a power steering fluid reservoir to store the power steering fluid.
2) The second part is the power steering rack and pinion unit. It is located low, center, behind the engine and is what your steering wheel connects to. It is also what the two hoses from your power steering pump connect to as well.

Power steering randomly went out 98 pontiac bonnevile

Check serpentine belt. It may be broken.
If all belts are in good shape and tensioned properly have the car looked at by a mechanic for troubleshooting.

The powered steering in my mini is not working correctly, the steering is very heavy and it would appear the power steering doesnt exist of my mini cooper s 2004 model.

check the power steering fluid if it is full then you would have to replace your power steering pump if not you might have a leak and if so get that fixed before you destroy your power steering pump.
